Working Principle – Stacking Configurations

Belleville washers offer unique flexibility through stacking arrangements, allowing designers to achieve specific load and deflection requirements:

  • Parallel Stacking: Multiple washers stacked in the same direction. For a given deflection, two washers in parallel deliver double the load of a single washer; three washers deliver triple the load, etc.

  • Series Stacking: Washers stacked in alternating directions. For a given load, two washers in series deliver double the deflection of a single washer; three washers deliver triple the deflection, etc.

  • Series-Parallel Combinations: Mixed configurations provide customized load-deflection curves for complex engineering requirements.

This versatility enables precise tuning of spring characteristics without changing individual washer dimensions.
