Sheet Metal Screw

  • Pan Head Sheet Metal Screws
  • Flat Head Sheet Metal Screws
  • Hex Washer Head Sheet Metal Screws
  • Type A / Type AB / Type B Sheet Metal Screws

Category

Sheet metal screws, also known as self-tapping screws, are designed to create their own threads as they are driven into materials such as sheet metal, wood, fiberglass, and plastic. Unlike machine screws that require pre-tapped holes, these screws cut or form mating threads during installation, enabling quick and efficient fastening in applications where access is limited to one side.

Point Types

Type      Description
Type A Sharp, gimlet point with widely spaced threads. Designed for thin sheet metal (0.015″ to 0.050″ thick), light-gauge steel, and non-ferrous metals. Most popular and widely used type
Type AB Hybrid design combining the sharp point of Type A with finer threads similar to Type B. Offers versatility across a broader range of materials, including thin sheet metal and softer substrates
Type B Blunt point with finer threads. Designed for thicker sheet metal (0.050″ to 0.200″ thick), plastics, and softer metals. Provides improved holding power in these materials
